The creation of this website, as well as the one displayed on the left, showcases my proficiency in web design and development. My involvement in Rotaract and Rotary played a pivotal role in honing these skills. As an active member of these organizations, I sought opportunities to contribute to my club’s initiatives. It was during this time that I crossed paths with Tom Nelson, the CEO of 4 Sites. Through his guidance and mentorship, I gained valuable insights into SEO and building exceptional websites.

ITALIAN COMMUNICATION

CONTEXT: Instituto João XXIII, founded in 1976, is dedicated to supporting children in need. Rooted in a congregation originating from Brescia, Italy, the institute has long been committed to social outreach and education. With a growing need to strengthen its digital footprint, the organization sought to enhance its social media presence and develop a website to effectively engage its audience, attract donors, and amplify its mission.

SOLUTION: I proposed a comprehensive 3-month plan aimed at empowering Instituto João XXIII to manage their own social media presence effectively. The plan involved training a designated colleague in social media management, with a focus on the fundamentals of content creation, including video production, Meta Business, social media management and graphic design. By the end of the program, the colleague would be fully equipped to independently manage the institute’s social channels, ensuring continuity and engagement. Additionally, I offered to design and develop a website that aligned with the institute’s core mission and values, providing a cohesive digital platform to further extend their reach and impact.

RESULT: Upon completing the proposed plan, I successfully trained a team member to manage the institute’s social media channels, implementing a strategic system that led to a dramatic improvement. In just three months, their social media engagement and reach surpassed the previous year’s performance. Additionally, I designed and built a comprehensive website that featured key functionalities such as a weekly blog, built-in calendar, a donation page, a weekly events schedule, a contact page, and a section highlighting the institute’s global presence in four countries.
Recognizing the need for high-quality visuals, I organized and directed photoshoots, including a product photoshoot for over 50 items. The resulting gallery was integrated into both their social platforms and website. With the fresh visuals and improved online presence, their product sales saw an eightfold increase compared to previous figures, demonstrating the significant impact of the new digital strategy.

DOWNTOWN MESA BANNERS

CONTEXT: The Downtown Mesa Association (DMA) wanted to shine a spotlight on the key aspects of Downtown using flag banners, serving as a reminder of the area’s unique features, including its brewing scene, antiques, food options, and soulful music scene.

SOLUTION: They discovered me at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of CO+HOOTS Mesa, where I had the privilege of being one of the speakers, passionately sharing my insights. At that moment, while I was excited about the opportunity, I wasn’t entirely confident in tackling the project alone. So, I enlisted the help of my friend Johnny to join me in bringing this vision to life. Check out the interview for more details!

RESULTS: We both delivered four designs each, and all of them were selected and distributed among the city. My design philosophy aimed to infuse vibrant colors to make a bold statement in the cityscape, capturing the dynamic energy that the city is known for and ensuring it stands out and gets recognized.

REGGAE BAND LOGO

CONTEXT: My roommate’s brother is in a reggae band, and they’re in need of a logo design. He reached out to me saying, ” Would you be able to do sum like this but with the words THE ALLEY KATS and with the colors purple and blue?”

SOLUTION: I delved into the world of the band Fortunate Youth and their music, meticulously studying their style. Afterward, I conducted a thorough typography check to ensure consistency. I carefully selected a font that harmonized with their aesthetic. Experimenting with colors, I layered multiple hues to achieve the desired effect, all while staying true to the requested purple and blue palette. Additionally, I crafted a sticker design, a staple among bands, to complement the logo.

RESULT: The result of the logo design and sticker creation for the reggae band “The Alley Kats” was a visually captivating representation that perfectly encapsulated their style and vibe. By drawing inspiration from the band Fortunate Youth and carefully selecting typography and colors, the logo achieved a harmonious and distinctive look. The layered hues in purple and blue not only met the band’s specific color preferences but also added depth and energy to the design. The accompanying sticker design provided a cohesive branding element that enhanced the band’s visual identity. Overall, the result was a successful collaboration that met the client’s needs and exceeded expectations, setting the stage for “The Alley Kats” to make a memorable impression with their new logo and branding materials.

BRUSA FC – FUTSAL TEAM

CONTEXTAs a member of a small futsal team, I witnessed our team’s growth over time. However, due to budget constraints, we were unable to hire a marketing professional to enhance our team’s visibility and branding. Recognizing the opportunity to contribute as an aspiring graphic design student, I stepped forward and inquired about ways I could lend a hand.

SOLUTION: We began by discussing the goals the team had set for the year and broke them down into actionable steps. As part of the solution, I took on the role of creating visual content to boost the team’s online presence. This involved shooting and recording media during games and events, which I then edited and repurposed for use on social media platforms and the team’s website.

Additionally, we enlisted the help of a photographer to capture moments during games, ensuring a steady stream of engaging content. To further enhance our online visibility, we created a YouTube channel where we shared behind-the-scenes footage and videos showcasing our day-to-day activities.

Furthermore, I structured the team’s social media accounts to not only showcase the team’s brand but also to promote the sale of team jerseys and merchandise. By strategically organizing and curating content, we aimed to strengthen the team’s identity and increase engagement with fans and followers.

RESULTSThe implementation of our marketing strategy yielded significant results for the futsal team. By aligning our efforts with the team’s goals for the year, we were able to enhance their online presence and engage with fans more effectively.

The media content I created and edited played a crucial role in increasing engagement on social media platforms and the team’s website. The captivating visuals captured the excitement of games and events, resonating with fans and attracting new followers.

Having a dedicated photographer at games resulted in a steady stream of high-quality images that showcased the team’s passion and dedication. These images not only enriched our content but also contributed to a more visually appealing and dynamic online presence.

The creation of a YouTube channel allowed us to provide fans with exclusive behind-the-scenes access and insights into the team’s activities. This additional platform helped us connect with fans on a deeper level and foster a sense of community.

The structured social media strategy not only strengthened the team’s brand identity but also contributed to an increase in jersey and merchandise sales. By strategically promoting products and engaging with followers, we were able to drive revenue and support the team financially.

The results of our marketing efforts exceeded expectations, leading to increased fan engagement, improved brand visibility, and tangible financial benefits for the futsal team.

THE MESA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

CONTEXT: I was brought on board by the Mesa Chamber to primarily focus on data entry and analysis, leveraging one of my many talents. However, as the Chamber hosted numerous events, it became evident that there was a significant amount of footage generated that required editing.

SOLUTION: Bob (in red), the Communications Director at the Mesa Chamber, recognized the potential in leveraging my skills beyond data entry and analysis. With his support and encouragement, I was entrusted with the responsibility of handling video editing tasks for various Chamber events, including ribbon cuttings, ceremonies, and other promotional videos. Bob’s decision to give me creative freedom in this role allowed me to bring a fresh perspective and innovative approach to the Chamber’s video content.

RESULT: I was able to apply my creative skills to enhance the Chamber’s video content, resulting in a more engaging and professional representation of their events and activities.

By taking on the responsibility of editing ribbon cuttings, ceremonies, and other Chamber videos, I not only provided high-quality visual content but also streamlined the process, ensuring timely delivery of finished products. This contributed to a more efficient and effective communication strategy for the Chamber.

Furthermore, the creative freedom granted to me by Bob allowed for innovative approaches and unique storytelling techniques in the Chamber’s video content. This not only captured the attention of viewers but also strengthened the Chamber’s brand identity and message.

The results of expanding my role to include video editing were highly positive, leading to improved visual representation, enhanced communication efforts, and a more impactful presence for the Mesa Chamber within the community.

BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY MESA

CONTEXT: Benedictine University holds a special place in my heart as it was not just a place of education, but a beacon of endless possibilities. While pursuing my studies in graphic design, I also had the privilege of being a member of the soccer team. However, a setback occurred when I sustained an injury that prevented me from playing. Coincidentally, the university was facing challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, including the absence of a dedicated media person for athletics. Seeing an opportunity to contribute and support the soccer team, I decided to step up despite my injury, attending practices and matches to offer my assistance in media-related tasks.

SOLUTION:I took proactive steps to support the soccer teams and enhance their online presence. I organized and conducted media days for both the men’s and women’s soccer teams, capturing high-quality photos during game days to create engaging content for social media platforms.

As the season progressed, I collaborated with the teams to create personalized soccer posters for the senior players, highlighting their contributions and achievements. This not only celebrated the seniors’ dedication but also served as a morale booster for the entire team.

Furthermore, my efforts were recognized beyond the soccer teams, as the baseball coach also approached me to design posters for their team later in the year.

RESULT: By organizing media days and capturing in-game photos, we were able to create engaging content for social media platforms, resulting in increased fan engagement and interaction. The visually appealing content showcased the dedication and passion of the players, fostering a stronger sense of community and support for the teams.

The creation of personalized soccer posters for senior players not only celebrated their contributions but also served as a meaningful keepsake for the athletes and their families. This recognition further boosted team morale and cohesion, contributing to a positive team culture.
